Go Erin! Go Erin!

Erin got her second report card of the year today. If you recall, last time she got 3 E's and 3 S's. This time, she did even better! She got 4 E's and 2 S's. She is doing amazingly well. These are her grades this time:

Reading- E
Language- S
Math- E
Social Studies- E
Science- S
PE- E

I cannot believe how well she's doing. Her after school tutoring is down to only one day a week because she didn't need two anymore. She can write a whole sentence and read it back to you. I am so glad she is at VDF School, and especially in Mr. M's class! I cannot imagine she would be doing nearly this well anywhere else or with any other teacher. His teaching methods are perfect for her, and this school is well funded enough, and well managed enough, to allow the teachers to actually spend the time on each individual student, that it will take to get them to really reach their potential.

I just can't even believe it. My kid, learning disabilities and all, is getting S's and E's in EVERYTHING, even the areas she struggles harder than anything with. I see what other parents with kids of similar abilities to Erin are going through with public schools, and their kids are falling through the cracks, failing, being held back in multiple grades. I know that's what would be happening to Erin if she were in that situation, but she isn't. She is at VDF School, in Mr. M's first grade class, and she is thriving. We are so happy to be where we are. They really weren't kidding when they wrote on the school's website, "We believe every child can learn." Yes. Yes they can. My little learning disabled daughter is performing like a gifted kid after less than half a year in that place. If that is not amazing, I don't know what is. What's best is that she has such confidence. She knows she's worked hard for her grades, and done well. We're glad she has the chance to succeed like this.
